Atlantis in the Americas? Around 360 BCE the ancient Greek educator Plato told the tale of Atlantis in his writings, “Timaeus” and “Critias”. Certainly, Atlantis he said was founded by half Gods and Half humans. They had created a utopian civilization beyond the Pillars of Hercules, which is present-day Gibraltar. Gibraltar is located at the entrance to the Mediterranean Sea, from the Atlantic Ocean. The Atlanteans, he said developed a great navy and made other amazing advancements. What could those advancements be far back into ancient times? (Archimedes’ discovery of the lever and leverage was a break through innovation at the time, for example). Additionally, their home, Plato related was on concentric islands kept apart by wide moats. Basically, they were linked together by a canal that ran down the center of the islands. Afterward, It sank below the sea.

Atlantis in the Americas? Was Atlantis, an ancient civilization that existed in the Americas long before the Europeans invaded? What if Atlantis had been located in the Mississippi delta? Archaeologists have been uncovering the remains of civilizations that were once active in very ancient times. These sites have previously been completely ignored by main stream Academia. Basically, they have preferred to teach the lie that Columbus discovered America.
Why is that in the recent past there have been startling documented discoveries of giants, tombs, and caves full of artifacts? Almost all of these finds have disappeared. These finds have been left out of history text books. There is solid evidence of ancient civilizations that were active in North America in and around present day Louisiana, for example.

Atlantis in the Americas? Watson Brake is a mound complex found near the Watson Bayou in northern Louisiana. This sophisticated ancient site dates to 3500 BCE. Another ancient site is Poverty Point which is also located in Louisiana and is dated 1600 BCE. There are several other very ancient sites in different areas of North America, let alone Central and South America. Were these sites the marvels of their time? Why aren’t their stories told in schools? Why perpetuate the Columbus nonsense?
Chiefly, Plato’s description of Atlantis’s location could not be more vague. Beyond the Pillars of Hercules or Gibraltar indicates somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean. The Atlantic is a huge ocean. Atlantis could be anywhere in that vast ocean. Anywhere!
Is it that we are unwilling to accept that so-called primitives were not primitive at all? Are we unwilling to admit that there were peoples who have vanished but left their cosmopolitan constructions behind? Further, does it have anything to do with the US Governments policy of eradication of the Indian cultures that stood in the way of westward expansion?
What if Plato did not realize he may have described the ancient sites located in the bayou region of Louisiana or elsewhere in the Americas? These sites are in fact beyond the Pillars of Hercules.
