The Man Who Refused to Hang is a story that is both curious and unusual. Could it be an example of the extraordinary power of the human mind? This is a distasteful story, but a remarkable one that happened. In February of 1885, in an English prison, John Lee was led to the scaffold to be hanged for murder. The noose was put around his neck. Lee stood on a trap door that was held in place by a bolt. The sheriff pulled the bolt out, but the trap door did not fall away as it should have. This occurred in front of several stunned witnesses. The prisoner was returned to his cell. Two more attempts to hang the man failed. The trap door refused to fall away.
What happened?
The officials involved tried the trap door’s mechanism many times, and it worked flawlessly. They pulled the bolt, and down the trap door went. Yet, when John Lee stood on the trap door, pulling the bolt out produced no result. Exasperated officials gave up attempting the hanging and returned Lee to court, where his sentence was changed to life in prison. Years later, he was released from prison. Is there a lesson from the man who refused to hang?
Manifestation is based on two principles: positive thinking and the law of attraction. To manifest something, you try to make dreams, goals, and hopes become real. Additionally, our thoughts can be very powerful. If a person believes they can do it, whatever it may be, then chances are they will. The law of attraction says that if a person completely focuses on something, it will come into their life. Chiefly, could it be that John Lee was able to manifest the trap door to malfunction? Was he so strongly focused on staying alive? Accordingly, did he eventually manifest his freedom as well? Afterward, there is no information available on that, so who knows?
