The Huntsman World Senior Games

Evidently, for 30 years, each October in St. George, Utah the Huntsman World Senior Games are held. The games are held over a two-week period. It is the largest annual multi-sport event in the world for athletes aged 50 and over. Indeed, these athletes compete in 30 different sports, from softball to swimming, square dance to soccer. Significantly, beginners and experienced, male and female athletes can participate in most sports, at their level of skill. Undeniably, the Huntsman World Senior Games is a world leader in active aging and a qualifying event for the National Senior Games.

Some 3000 volunteers help bring the games together. The competitions begin this year on October 10th and conclude a fortnight later. October 17th, 2003 will be a treat as a John Denver tribute band will take the stage. The games promote health, wellness, and the age-defying power of active living, and inspiration through real-life sporting achievements. They offer a newsletter full of training tips, updates on the games and all the latest tips on active aging.

Maggie McCloskey will be inducted into the Huntsman World Senior Games Hall of Fame. The 90-year-old McCloskey is a member of the Colorado Peaches. Founded in 1991, the Colorado Peaches are the oldest softball team in the USA. The team boasts 40 female players, between the ages of 55 and 90.

The Huntsman family hosts the games, Accordingly. they welcome the athletes and spectators. They light the torch in the traditional Olympic Opening Ceremonies fashion. The Huntsman family has organized the games to promote Worldwide Peace, Health, Friendship, and Fun!

The games, concert, and celebration are free to visitors, and spectators.
